String Works is an innovative and ground-breaking collection of furniture which turns the workplace into a fully-functional, flexible yet friendly and visually-appealing location. The consciously minimalist shapes follow a functional design language that manages to avoid being too cold or clinical. An exceptionally friendly and inviting series that effortlessly bridges the narrow divide between office and private use. Refreshingly different.
First presented at imm cologne 2015, the Works office furniture line by the shelf manufacturer String has been nominated for the German Design Award 2016 in the “Excellent Product Design” category. The concept for the pioneering and ergonomic furniture line is the creation of designers Anna von Schewen and Björn Dahlström. These two designers have succeeded in developing a product line that turns the workplace into a fully functional and customisable yet friendly and pleasant environment. The Works line consists of numerous clever components that offer a tailored solution for every office area – including an ergonomic adjustable-height table, a freestanding shelf in the style of the iconic String System and a mobile drawer element.
The German Design Award is given out each year by the Design Council, one of the leading centres for excellence in design. Ergonomics, functionality and product aesthetics are only some of the criteria on which the international jury of experts bases its decision. The jury will announce the winners in late October 2015. The German Design Awards ceremony will take place during the international Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt am Main in February 2016.
